ALL MEN CHEAT

  The title wasn't my speech. I was on my own trying to mind my business and my overactive ears picked up a conversation tables away.
  The lady was in tears, telling her friends about how she had caught her guy cheating; she'd found explicit chats and what not between him and other girls.
  Her friends consoled her and told her to have expected it, that all men cheat and it's in a man's nature to cheat. They are all like

DO YOU LOVE NUMBER ONE?

  I was discussing with a friend during the week and she asked a question ‘How do you love others without hurting yourself?’ It got me thinking a lot. I know the general rule is that ‘Love is Blind’ and ‘Love hurts’. Well, that’s the general rule, not mine. My own rules and observations in my short existence in the world of humans are that;
1)   Love is not blind. It sees the good, the bad and the ugly of the person receiving the love. Love doesn’t deceive you or pull

HELP INCOMING?

  Have you ever been at a crossroad? Have you ever reached out to people around you for help and no one looked your way?
Well my post is for you.
  Femi had a dream, a passion burning within him. He wanted to pursue this dream. Everyone tried to discourage him. They said he was stupid that it would never work. He’s nobody, he’s not even a celebrity, so who would buy into his dream. Femi reached out to his friends and family members, some promised to help. He waited on them but help never came. He called and called, went to their offices, houses but they only gave him words. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months and months into a year. The people he had counted on; the friends, aunties and uncles had let him down. Femi was distraught. His dream was dying before his eyes. One day,

IS HOPE ENOUGH?

  I hear people say all the time;
 "We hope for the best."
 "All we can do is hope."
 "There is nothing we can do but hope and pray."

 What then is your definition of Hope?

 ‘To have a wish to get or do something or for something to happen or be true, especially something that seems possible or likely.’

 ‘A feeling that something desirable is likely to happen’.

The above definitions are according to the Encarta dictionary.

  Should you keep waiting for a wish to get or

IT’S NOT A SPIRITUAL ATTACK, IT’S LUPUS

I was invited to an event on 10th May, 2017 and was told it was World Lupus Day. I wondered what Lupus was, yes Google is my friend but I decided to go hear from the doctors and satiate my curiosity.  I remember reading a while ago that Selena Gomez, yes the singer, had Lupus. This event was organized by the Rheumatology Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) under the leadership of Femi Adelowo, who is a Professor of Medicine and consultant Rheumatologist at Lasuth, President of the African League of Associations of Rheumatology (AFLAR) and Chairman, Executive committee of World Body of Rheumatology (ILAR). Impressive, right?
 Prof. finally satiated my curiosity with his speech.

What is Lupus? You ask

YOUR WORST ENEMY

   Michael flew from one church to the other. He was told his mother was a witch, another said he was dealing with an ancestral curse. He heard one story or the other everywhere he went. Michael is handsome, brilliant and was voted the most likely to succeed in his high school. He is thirty now and stuck in the same dead beat job he got after he passed out of the NYSC programme. The plan had been to work for two or three years and then start up his company. It’s been eight years now and he is still there. He had applied for other jobs but never got any. He had told his friends and family his plan but they all told him to

You’re happy everything is going really well then suddenly there’s a change in your partner’s behaviour; he doesn’t call as he used to, he’s always too busy to see you or something else. In some other cases, there’s no change in behaviour and then WHAM! It feels like you got a heavy knock on the head. You make a discovery via a

THE VALENTINE DAY SCAM

  When I was a little girl, one question always boggled my mind whenever Valentine’s Day approached; ‘Who is this Valentine?’ I never got the answer until I went to a missionary school for my higher education and ran into a gorgeous book titled ‘The book of Saints’ in our Vice Principal’s office. I felt like a fat kid in a candy shop. My little mind and fingers scoured the pages and found him. (I searched for my patron saint first though. Lots of St. Frances) There’s more than a Saint Valentine. The church doesn’t really have much info on them but they all died (martyred) on February 14.
  There were three of them; One was a missionary in Africa, the second a bishop in now, Terni, Italy and the last a priest in Rome.  The second and the third are

THE BIRTHDAY LIST

  So my birthday is on Monday, January 22nd. Days back, someone asked me what’s on my birthday list. I said I didn’t have a list and got a reaction that said “You’re an alien.”
  A birthday list is cool. It helps people who don’t know what to get you know what to get you. It kind of makes the job easier. You can do ojukokoro(greed) and add really expensive or hard to get gifts if you are wealthy and expect people to follow what’s on your list alone and share the list around to make sure people get you gifts you want.

  To me, it kind of takes away the spontaneity and

NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS SUCK

 George was overweight and needed to lose some weight. The New Year approached and he made a resolution; “This New Year, I will join a gym.” He joined a gym, truthfully. He went to the gym every day. He’d go out and be offered cake, Ice-cream, fried chicken and many more yummy treats. He turned them all down. One day in February, it was a colleague’s birthday at the office. A red velvet cake was shared; George had a thing for red velvet. “A tiny slice won’t kill me.” He ate the cake happily. Days later, his alarm rang to tell him ‘gym time’. George shut
